Ingredients

  • ½ cup low-sodium soy sauce

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

  • 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil

  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon honey or mirin (optional)

  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional garnish)


Instructions

  • Heat sesame oil in a small saucepan over medium heat.

  • Add garlic and ginger; sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  • Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, gochujang, and rice vinegar.

  • Simmer for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened.

  • Add honey or mirin (if using) during the last minute of cooking.

  • Remove from heat. Let cool slightly and transfer to a glass jar.
